Waterworn

This April ABSOLUT Fringe and Project Arts Centre are joining forces to rip it up in rep, as five favourite shows from fringes past will return for a sensational season at Project Arts Centre.
Turn Around is a diverse line up of theatre, dance, puppetry, spoken word and music-theatre, a season of specially curated works just for you.

We are especially interested in WATERWORN An elegant shadow play based on a tale of sea adventure, the play revolves around one character and his day at sea, hunting whales. First presented at ABSOLUT Fringe 2009 Waterworn is a captivating story inspired by Hemmingway’s Old Man of the Sea and Melville’s Moby Dick. You can read an interview by creative director Ger Clancy for Totally Dublinhere

A beautiful blend of puppets, projections, and live music; the story one man in his pursuit of a giant whale. Bring your sea legs and climb aboard for a sensory experience you won’t forget.

“… a refreshingly original piece…” Irish Theatre Magazine

There is something lonely and poignant about shadow plays that lends itself perfectly to the tale of loneliness and tragedy at sea; enhanced by the Michael Nyman-style repetitive rhythms of the piano.
