The more we find out about Clifford Ross the more we like him. His series Hurricane was originally photographed from 1998–2001. All the waves in the series were generated by hurricanes which were shot while the artist was in the surf, often up to his chest, tethered to the shore with a safety rope.
The Hurricane Series led to two other bodies of work, the Horizon Series and Grain Series. Taken as a group, the Hurricanes, Horizons and Grain series compose a trilogy known as “Wave Music”
Artspace, a contemporary art hub, is selling 300 prints of his work Hurricane to benefit the operating costs of charity: water and you can read a great interview about the series with Clifford Ross on their site here.
